The Ministry opened the procedure to define the perimeter in September 2022 (first services conference on 25 October 2022) and it ended with the decree of 29 July 2025. No official figures on the progress of characterisation and remediation were found.
Story
The Area vasta di Giugliano was part of the Litorale Domizio Flegreo ed Agro Aversano SIN, which passed to the Campania Region in 2013. In 2020 law 120, converting decree-law 76/2020, named it a new site of national interest because of its landfills and waste treatment plants.
The Ministry opened the procedure to define the perimeter in September 2022; the perimeter was set by decree of 29 July 2025.
