Trial site, Switzerland
Switzerland, two contaminated soils (Thlaspi field trials)
Two Swiss soils contaminated twenty years earlier: a calcareous one, by atmospheric deposition, and an acidic one, by septic-tank wastes. The abstract does not name the places.

Noccaea caerulescens (Thlaspi caerulescens)
Hammer and Keller compared transplants repeated three times in eight months with two sowings over the same period.
Outcome Annual removal with transplants: 130 g/ha of cadmium and 3.7 kg/ha of zinc on the calcareous soil, 540 g/ha and 20 kg/ha on the acidic one. For cadmium the authors estimate clean-up in under ten years within Swiss limits; for zinc the soil content is too high for a realistic time span. The extractable fraction of the two metals did not fall.
